Hi! My name is Heather Wright, and I am the owner and maker behind Mostly Sunny Candle Co.!

Mostly Sunny Candle Co., began as a fun creative outlet that has turned into a thriving small business! For years, I've had a dream of starting my own business from scratch, but candlemaking never even crossed my mind until the Spring of 2020 when I went looking for a replacement for my favorite candle. When I discovered that the scent had been discontinued, I started looking for a way to create my own version of it (easy enough, right? Well, not exactly, ha!). What I discovered is that there is so much more that goes into candlemaking than appears on the surface.

As a degreed meteorologist, science has always captivated my interest, and so much of candlemaking involves science! From different wax blends to melt points to fragrance oils to pour temperatures to flash points to wick sizes and types to vessels to cooling rates - the list goes on. What I knew from the start was that I wanted to produce a great-smelling candle with as natural of ingredients as possible. Anything I make for your home has been tested and retested multiple times in my own home. It's more than just about great smelling candles and home fragrance products - it's about safety. And you deserve to have both!

That is why all of our products are carefully handcrafted in small batches using 100% soy wax, cotton wicks, and clean fragrance oils that are free of phthalates and other hormone-disrupting chemicals. With a heart for the environment, our vessels are also carefully chosen with not only style in mind, but also reusability and recyclability.

I believe that fragrance, much like music, can take you places and inspire you. Whether it's to a memory, a feeling, or an actual place - fragrance can bring those things to you. For that reason, many of our products are inspired by nature or places. I draw on my own experiences growing up in North Carolina, traveling to different places, and studying weather, as well as inspiration I receive from stories shared with me!

On a personal note, I am a wife to my amazing husband Nathan, as well as a mom to 3 busy kids - Matthew (19), Hadley (8), and Jackson (5). They love helping with the candle-making process, and one of their favorite things to do is to help me come up with fun candle names.

In June 2023, I graduated with my masters degree in Organizational Leadership - just a week after my oldest son graduated from high school. Of course, I’m always finding something else to get into - my husband has affectionately told me that I’m like a shark - I’m afraid if I stop moving, I’ll die - LOL!

In my free time, I love working out at my favorite gym, traveling, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, binge watching Netflix, trying new restaurants, reading, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. I am also passionate about Jesus, leadership, and people!
